Something New In My Shop!

Hey Everyone!  Hope you had a great weekend.  I've been real busy here but had to take a quick minute to show the final product of the ruffled apron I started quite a while ago.  I did not have a pattern so it seemed to drag on forever!  I do love how it turned out and I might have to make one for myself.  Five rows of ruffles in my favorite color.... PiNk.... and a little green & off-white eyelet.  It's lined with pink, also.  Now that I've made this, I think it's an awesome project for using up scrap stash that you have laying around.  The eyelet was actually from a valance and I couldn't give it away.  I knew I'd eventually use it for something.  I usually hang on to linens or bed skirts made out of cute fabric. Well, here it is:

So what do you think?  Lots of options and ideas for future foofy aprons, I think.
I hope you have a great week.

\*/ A Really Great Fabric Giveaway \*/

Hey Everyone!  I have to share a really great fabric giveaway with you
One of the Blogs I Read: Sew Mama, Sew  is giving away fabric to SIX readers!  All you need to do is check out the new fabric selection and leave a comment about your favorite fabric. How easy is that ?  Yep, I've already left my comment.  Believe it or not, I was actually able to narrow my favorites down to two choices.  I know, she said favorite {singular} but with all that PiNk going on, it was a huge task to pick just one.  You should rush Over There now and select yours!  Good luck to everyone {and I hope we are one of the lucky winners!!}   Have a great weekend!

\*/ I SuRvIvEd \*/

Hey Everyone!  I hope you're all having a way better week than I've had!  I'll spare all the details except the part about my computer. Ugh, don't you hate it when it crashes ??  I know I do. Not that it happens a lot but when it does,  eeeeek.... {cry}  I'm just not a happy camper.  I am so lucky though because my youngest son knows how to rebuild most electric gadgets..... which includes mamma's pink laptop.  So far, all is well.  I'm all rebuilt and feelin' good.  But that also means a whole week of pictures and words and no place to put it all.  I'll see what I can update you all with and hopefully it won't sound like old news.
I'm busy at work {day jobs} and still trying to spend time making new items for **T H E **** S H O P** .  Here is a quick peak at a ruffled apron I'm working on.  I'm not following a pattern and I'm still thinking about how to finish off the waist band, but I'm sure it'll turn out just fine.

Ruffle*Apron.  Work in Progress
So, you can see I'm just adding rows of ruffles.  It's pretty cute in person. Nice and fluffy!  Since this photo, I've added a top row and a layer of sheer PiNk organza with stars all over it.  I just have the waist-band and ties to attach.
I also made a set of blue Hawaiian print coasters.  They were a quick little project earlier this week.  Here's a few pictures.

Set of 4 coasters
I also worked on a hair bow. I found the tutorial on a fellow blogger's page {and I can't remember who at the moment so I will hold off uploading until I locate the right person}.
Cute little hair bow
Cute hair bow, huh?  As soon as the details are worked out, I'll have these for sale.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

**Going Green **

Hey Everyone!  Boy, do I have a treat for you.  While looking around in Blog-Land, I discovered another really cute blog. She is funny and creative and takes great pictures.  I saw this idea and just had to re-post it.  I'm always looking for ways to re-use items around the house and this is a little craft that satisfies my pack-rat   going green and recycling instinct. A big Thank You to Lucy at ATTIC 24  for showing off herTPR Family {Toilet Paper Roll}

Wouldn't you know,  I JUST took about 20 empty rolls into the office for a fun summer gardening project for a 'tween I know. You can secure about 5 of these together and then fill half way with soil, plant a small bulb or seeds, then more soil. Place on drain tray.    * Water * Wait * When they begin to sprout, they can be transferred into the ground or a large pot and be on their way!   Who knew??   I bet most people just throw them away {into their recycle bin, that is}.  Oh! just thought of two more things as I'm typing... they can be painted, or covered with pretty paper, or left plain and then carefully cut into "rings" and then stapled or taped into a "chain"  Sorry, no pics for these, but I know you've got the visual.  Another idea, which I have not tested, and wonder if it could be a fire-hazard...... so I just deleted my next sentence!  Anyway, I'd love to hear any ideas you have for recycling typical throw away items at your house. Feel free to email me if you don't want to post.
Happy Friday
